Our Story
About
Los Cuatro Soles
An artisan Mexican restaurant in Point Breeze, Philadelphia built on family, tradition, handmade food, and the authentic flavors of Mexico.
Nuestra Historia
A family story built through food, sacrifice, and tradition.
Los Cuatro Soles is more than a Mexican restaurant. It is a family story. The Jiménez Sánchez family has carried the flavors of Mexico through generations, with seven family members involved in the kitchen and restaurant.
The roots of the food come from childhood memories, from watching the grandmothers cook by the fire, learning the patience, care, and respect that traditional Mexican cooking requires.
As older siblings, there was always a responsibility to move forward and support the family. Ángel learned to cook for his sisters, and over time that responsibility became passion, skill, and tradition.
Today, that history lives in every tortilla, every guisado, every mole, and every dish served at Los Cuatro Soles.

As the restaurant approaches its 10th anniversary, the mission remains the same: to share real Mexican food with Philadelphia and preserve the flavors, stories, and traditions behind each dish.
Seven members of the Jiménez Sánchez family work together in the kitchen and restaurant, keeping the tradition alive in every dish.

The Dish That Defines Us
Traditional Mole Poblano Made from Scratch
Our mole poblano is one of the most important dishes at Los Cuatro Soles. It is made from scratch using a traditional family recipe passed down through generations.
The ingredients are prepared with care and ground in the traditional style, honoring the way Mexican families have made mole for generations.
The flavor is deep, rich, complex, and unforgettable, a true expression of Mexican culinary heritage. This is not just a sauce. It is a family tradition and a Mexican culinary treasure.

A Mexican Gourmet Tradition
Chiles en Nogada: Culture on a Plate
Every September, Los Cuatro Soles celebrates one of Mexico's most iconic dishes: chiles en nogada. Made with the grandmother's recipe, this dish represents history, tradition, color, and the sophistication of Mexican cuisine.
For 17 consecutive years, the family has prepared chiles en nogada to help customers discover and appreciate this unique seasonal dish.
Los Cuatro Soles has also celebrated the first Chile en Nogada Fest in Philadelphia, helping rescue and share this traditional Mexican dish with the city.
This is more than food. It is culture, memory, and Mexican identity served on a plate.

Our Atmosphere
Inspired by Talavera
and Mexican Craftsmanship
Our restaurant celebrates Mexican culture not only through food, but also through color, design, and handmade details. The talavera-style tables were created by Little Susie's Empanadas, giving Los Cuatro Soles a unique artisan identity and a warm, colorful atmosphere that makes guests feel connected to Mexico.
